Removing film entries

[edit]

The entire list of Amjad's films was added by user 203.77.198.178 on 29 December 2004. I have kept the one's which have a article, and the moved the rest to here. Once these have articles of their own, the entries can be made in the Filmography section. Jay 14:10, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't that incredibly shortsighted and detrimental to the article? I can see removing the wiki links from the nonexistent articles, but removing the titles entirely seems outrageous to me. The fact that they don't all have articles in no way means the films never existed, which to me is about what you're saying by removing them wholesale. Just my opinion.... BRossow T/C 14:15, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I wish there was some policy on this. Filmography is something which can run into a long list and maybe take up 80% of the article length. Film actors perform in 100s of films, but we needn't have the complete list in their article, just the noteworthy ones. But then if it was notable it would have an article on its own. If it doesn't have, no one would have had a chance to create it, which is why I've added it to the talk page rather than removing it completely. Moving the entries doesn't mean the films didn't exist, but they weren't notable enough, or the list may grow. Wikipedia is always a work in progress, which means that lists needn't be complete. Jay 14:37, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps the lists don't need to be complete as an article grows, but to take an already-complete list and intentionally remove relevant information seems, and pardon me for saying so, to border on vandalism. Should pertinent information be removed from an article simply because it takes a proportionately large amount of screen real estate? I'm disturbed by this move. Someone who comes to Wikipedia to find a list of Khan's films is most likely not going to know that s/he should look on the Talk page, of all places, to get the full list. I see this as a detrimental move, to say the least. BRossow T/C 15:25, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've initiated a discussion at Wikipedia_talk:Filmographies#All_films_or_some_.3F. Jay 19:48, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
There is a precedent for this. I've moved the list to a seperate filmography page. TheMadBaron 22:47, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the list

[edit]

(moved to Amjad Khan (filmography))

One issue in support of this - Amjad Khan has acted in movies of 4 different languages . That may be relevant to the listing of the movies. Also Amjad Khan acted in only one movie - Sholay - which might have an independant article today. All other movies were in pop-movie genre —Preceding unsigned comment added by Saraswatishagnik (talkcontribs) 12:58, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Sholay1.jpg

[edit]

Image:Sholay1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 15:35, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The image Image:Sholay.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Hello. I believe this Amjad Khan is much more famous than the others, so I would suggest going back to the previous situation, where this article was called "Amjad Khan" and the disambiguation page was called "Amjad Khan (disambiguation)". Thanks and regards, Biwom (talk) 12:28, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you on this. Amjad Khan (actor) seems to be the primary topic here as per Google search and guidelines listed at WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and WP:NWFCTM.- Managerarc talk 15:32, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Baloch? What a joke!

He was not baloch nor did he ever claim to be.Just because he may have been born in quetta (which is not even a baloch city) does not automatically make him one. Reverted this nonsense back to originalAkmal94 (talk) 14:17, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
