Record Sales

Whoever is creating false numbers with relation to 'Back To Black' record sales - stop it. The reference which I linked up clearly states that 3.4 million copies have been sold worldwide - this was confirmed by her label in late January 2008.

Chart position are wrong for album and singles. She only had one US Top 10 hit "Rehab" which peaked at #9 in 2007. Also, Back to Black didn't hit #1 in all those countries, I changed the US to #2, which is where it peaked after her big Grammy win. Stronger (Amy Winehouse album)

Why isn't Stronger, the apparent new Amy Winehouse album included on her discography? Is that even the new album because there are no references cited for it? I propose that if it really is the new album, it should be included on her discography.

Is Lioness a Studio or Compilation album

Personally I think it should be listed as a compilation since it was made after Amy's death and made of work she herself didn't release during her lifetime, the same way Michael Jackson's Michael album is listed as a compilation. --Duphin (talk) 22:25, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

On the other hand, Led Zeppelin's posthumous Coda album, consisting of tracks recorded throughout that band's career, is invariably considered a studio album. I think Lioness is being marketed as an album, not a compilation, but perhaps we can source this.

I'm not sure that it is being marketed as a studio album, more as a posthumous album (maybe list it as that?). Most people are aware that Lioness is made up of covers, alternative versions of previous songs and material Amy didn't release during her lifetime. I actually agree with you, and seeing how Michael, a "posthumous album of previously unreleased tracks," is listed under "Compilations," in the Michael Jackson discography there seems to be a precedent. Furthermore, some reviewers have called it a compilation.[2] However, the official site AmyWinehouse.com calls Lioness "the third album from Amy Winehouse,"[3] so I don't know how it should be listed. Lioness is a studio album. Sure, it may be compiled from various times in her career, but when the album was recorded is unimportant since the tracks were previously unreleased. A compilation is a collection of previously released songs - which Lioness isn't. All studio albums are made up of songs compiled from different sessions - the length of time apart isn't really important. In the case of the Michael Jackson album. That's a little tricky since there are many claims that some of the songs included aren't actually by Jackson (although I still think it should be listed as a studio album - how can it realistically be included among his other Greatest Hits collections?).--Tuzapicabit (talk) 09:26, 14 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Has anyone heard the Tyler James cover of her inedited song "Procrastinate" (as "Procrastination") on his ’05 album The Unlikely Lad? I'm pretty sure she provides the opening hums. I'm not sure humming constitutes an "Other appearance," though.

Worldwide sales of Back To Black

Hello, everyone with a bit of knowledge knows Back To Black sold nowhere near 20 million copies worldwide. It sold under 10 million copies by the end of 2008 as per IFPI year end charts with its best year coming in 2007 at 5,6m, was communicated at 12 million recently by Billboard^[1] and mediatraffic website, although not official and with some flaws for local releases, put it at 12 million as well^[2]. Sales from all world areas (8m+ in EU, 3m in NA, close to nothing in Asia, less than a million in Oceania+Latin America) also put WW sales at 12 million. Last but not least, Universal confirmed in its business year end report rounded up figures of 6 million sales in 2007 and 4 million in 2008^[3], and 1,7 million in 2011^[4], those being the 3 years on which it sold the bulk of its sales. All links refering to the ludicrous 20 million figure are from gossip magazines with 0 clue of charts and sales.
