Lead
  • I thik you should mention it is part of an episode trilogy with The Blessing Way and Paper Clip..
  • "The episode is one of those which helped to explore the series' overarching mythology." What is meant by this exactly? Could you put it more in context, what does "overarching mythology" refer to, is it a specific form of mythology or in general or what?

Yeah that's better I thought you were on about Navaro mythology or something. Please do that to the others.

Anasazi

[edit]

I'm surprised that the article doesn't mention how the premise is ahistorical. The people who were there just moved and are now living in the Pueblos. - Francis Tyers · 03:42, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if that's been discussed in reliable sources that look at the show (and tbf, TXF is a sci-fi/fantasy show, so the whole thing is ahistorical). That said, if we can find some indigenous sources that critique the plot, etc., I think that would make a great addition. @Grapple X: Do you happen to know of anything that talks about this?--Gen. Quon (Talk) 13:41, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh! Found this, but it doesn't talk about the episode in particular!--Gen. Quon (Talk) 13:43, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Also this. I'll work that one in asap.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 13:45, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Francis Tyers: I started a paragraph at the bottom of the reception section that discusses similar critiques. I haven't been able to find anything that discusses the ahistorical nature of the plot, but I found a few sources that mention how the use of the Navajo is pretty cliched and stereotypical. I'll keep digging.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 14:04, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! Thanks for your efforts. I also went looking for some time but couldn't find anything. I'm simultaneously surprised (it's fairly common knowledge at least among people who know anything about the history of the Southwest-Northwest) and unsurprised (most people don't know much about pre-colonial US history). I suppose the intersection of people who both know something about the history of the Southwest-Northwest and people who watch the X-files is pretty small :) - Francis Tyers · 02:29, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Francis Tyers: I feel like there's gotta be something out there, tho. It's such a weird plot point, considering that its not correct, haha.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 22:42, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, "out there" :D ... I looked on Google Scholar and found a couple of articles:

It doesn't talk about the history much, but it does provide valuable criticism.

This one also fails to get to the heart of the matter, but might have some relevant stuff. - Francis Tyers · 19:16, 9 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
