Nicholas Ridley

[edit]

I chanced upon a book about Arnold Ridley yesterday. The author is Nicholas Ridley. I didn't have time to look at it properly but it seemed that the author was the son of AR. However, this does not square with what is in the article. At first, I thought that the author may be the politician of the same name, but this turns out not to be the case. Does anyone have information on Nicholas Ridley? Mikeo1938 (talk) 16:10, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

He is Arnold Ridley's son. AR was about 49 when he got married. The story of his wounds need some expansion. At the Somme, AR was piggy-backing a wounded man back to the trench when a shell exploded behind them. AR's legs were exposed to the frags, and the wounded man was cut in half. AR then had to shoot him, and dash back to safety. AR had nightmares about this for the rest of his life.220.244.237.202 (talk) 14:42, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Loosing copyrights to plays?

[edit]

I've read or heard several times that Ridley had to turn over his play copyrights to others due to financial difficulties because of his film investments. Does anyone have references which would allow that information to be included in the article.TGC55 (talk) 19:18, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Crossroads

[edit]

The List of Crossroads characters article would indicate that Arnold Ridley last appeared in that series in 1972, as opposed to 1971 as stated here. I realise IMDb goes with 1971, but it is missing many Crossroads episodes (and indeed if taken at face value would suggest he did not debut as the Reverend Guy Atkins until 1968 (which definitely would seem not to be the case). I wonder if anyone could find a source which would confirm the dates of his appearance in Crossroads ? Dunarc (talk) 21:25, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
