Speedy deletion of Arshad Mehmood (singer)

[edit]

Hello Waqas.usman, this is a message from an automated bot to inform you that the page you created, Arshad Mehmood (singer), has been marked for speedy deletion by User:Vanjagenije. This has been done because the page seems to be about a person, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant (see CSD). If you think the tag was placed in error, please add "{{hangon}}" to the page text, and edit the talk page to explain why the page should not be deleted. If you have a question about this bot, please ask it at User talk:SDPatrolBot II. If you have a question for the user who tagged the article, see User talk:Vanjagenije. Thanks, - SDPatrolBot II (talk) on behalf of Vanjagenije (talk · contribs) 19:12, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article is brief but it clearly mentions that the person is a singer who has sung many hit songs for Bollywood. Such actions by bots are annoying in a situation like this where it's clearly mentioned. User:Waqas.usman (Talk) 19:16, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It is certainly clearly mentioned. The problem is that it is totally unreferenced -- a list of available MP3s without any other information is meaningless in the context. What songs charted on what charts -- as "hits" -- and reference what movies? As it stands, I don't see any hard evidence that the subject meets WP:MUSIC; all we have is your assertion. By the way, you might have been informed by a bot, but speedy deletion tags like this are placed by a human (User:Vanjagenije, as I gather) for what seem to be excellent reasons; this article might be deleted at any moment. The key is that the assertion of notability has to be believable, and this assertion is far too vague to be useful; I'm assuming good faith and giving you some time to flesh this out, but it definitely needs some work. Accounting4Taste:talk 20:04, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have declined the speedy because a claim of having popular songs is a good faith claim of importance. (Remember, Accounting4Taste, that to avoid speedy deletion, the article only needs to make a claim of importance, not meet the higher notability standards.) If the singer doesn't meet WP:MUSIC, prod or AfD are the way to go.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 20:25, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
