Note to Editors of the Bathinda Article[edit]

Dear editors of this page: s page are non-native english speakers. Please be open to proper English edits or this page will not be taken seriously! Do not take offense and please be open to the proper editing of your words. I am a native English speaker of Punjabi origin and am only trying to help all the non-native English speaking authors by editing for correct word ordering and usage. I am sure other English speaking editors of the Bathinda page will resonate this concern. Be open and lets together make this a more rigorous encyclopedia entry for people all over the world to refer to for information and not personally biased glorification (which will only reduce the impact of the content).Guneeta 05:11, 11 November 2006 (UTC)Guneeta[reply]

Edit discussions[edit]

Well whats this copyright thing and who is verifieng on whos behalf. well i do live in bathinda but still as the guy said wikipedia is open to everybody even morons from planet mars can edit if they have access. I also find it quiet unuseful but thats what it is. And i am interested to know who is fennec who wants a compelling demonstration and for what purpose. No body needs to demonstrate nebody .

........................... I'm the one who is bobwalia86 so don't worry about the copyright. Tajinder www.Tajinder.cjb.net

For legal reasons, we will need a more compelling demonstration than that. - Fennec 03:30, 7 Apr 2004 (UTC)

How about now? visit www.geocities.com/bobwalia86/aboutbti.htm

Anybody Here

That... should probably do it. Expect this article to be restored shortly. Please realize that due to legal reasons regarding copyrights, and out of respect for the original authors (many of whom do NOT want their work copied), we need to be sure about these things. Thank you for your concern in this regard. - Fennec 04:57, 7 Apr 2004 (UTC)

But nobody is restoring it?

If this page doesn't get restored in two days i'm taking back my article

Sorry about that... no idea why nobody has restored it until now. It's back now. --Delirium 06:54, Apr 21, 2004 (UTC)

I'm a bit confused as to why there's a message at the top of the page telling people not to change any of the existing text. Maybe someone could enlighten me otherwise my edits are going to be restored. --ChicXulub 19:08, May 03, 2004 (GMT)

Because you see this article was contributed by me from my site Tajinder.cjb.net to wikipedia after careful writing and every word has been written taking care of its meaning but you keep changing it (and you even made a spelling mistake in it the last time) and I'm frustrated by this. If you or anybody else wants to add to the article he or she is welcome. Only thing I want is not to change the meaning of the things I have written down. So please stop making changes. What's the use of me writing this artical on this site if people keep changing the meanings? --Tajinder 16:16, 4 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

You didn't read the warning under the edit box. Allow me to point it out to you:
If you do not want your writing to be edited mercilessly and redistributed at will, then do not submit it.

Yes I understand that but I don't think it says

Don't say anything if people change the meaning of things you have written down and let them make mistakes to your article

You are most welcome to add new things but why you change the meanings and make mistakes? I ask you, is it wrong to stop people who do these things when they don't know a thing about Bathinda and I'm the one who lives in Bathinda and know how important these things are to the whole article?

This is how it used to be

Bathinda is one of the historical towns of India, being associated with the imprisonment of first woman emperor Razia Sultan in 1239 in the fort here

First they made it into

It' is one of the historical towns of India,

Then they put Bathinda back but then they made it into

Bathinda is one of the historical towns of India, and is associated with the imprisonment of empress Razia Sultan in 1239 in the fort located there.

it is important to stress that Razia Sultan was the first woman emperor as that was what made her important. what have they made it into, that there was a empress who was imprisoned there

Now when a person is reading an article of a place we usually see that everything is 'here' as it is under the heading of that place whereas here we see that... or should I say 'there we see that'???

I wrote

Razia Sultan in 1239 in the fort here
They made it into
Razia Sultan in 1239 in the fort located there.

Then if you say this change is correct then also change this:

Bala Rao inhabited this city in 965 AD and named this city as Bhatinda

into

Bala Rao inhabited that city in 965 AD and named that city as Bhatinda

It should say: Bala Rao inhabited that/this city in 965 AD and named that city BhatindaGuneeta 05:10, 11 November 2006 (UTC)Guneeta[reply]

In proper grammatically correct English, there is no need for the as before the subject Bathinda.Guneeta 05:10, 11 November 2006 (UTC)Guneeta[reply]

The main problem with this site is that it is too much free because everyone is trying to make all the article right from his/her prospective while others try to make it right from their point of view. They keep on changing it until the whole article makes no sense. There should be people to check if these changes are right or not only then it should be viewed by the public.

If you still think people should make these changes then I'm going from this site as it sickens me.

Waiting for reply

The change from "first woman emperor" to "empress" is because "woman emperor" is nonstandard English, and "first" is not relevant to that sentence.
The changes from "here" to "located there" and "this city" to "that city" are proper encyclopedic style. The reader is not in Bathinda, nor is there a specific author that can say he is there.
I'm sorry the Wikipedia way of doing things does not meet your approval, but we are not going to change our core policies to accommodate your personal interest in this article.

Notable People!!![edit]

Unless there is a separate wiki page on the so called famous person, he cannot be a notable person of the city. You can not put some retired officers as famous. I am removing all names but those with a wiki page attached with them. —Residentevil— —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.240.152.4 (talk) 12:15, 28 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
