A major source of criticism is quite dull AI behavior, leaving more troop-reliant classes at a major disadvantage with troops being stuck, which happens more as the gang grows. One may have to pause and "rally" several times before a trooper is back to normal behavior. This is a true aspect of the game, and it exists in both DOS and SMD editions.
This is partially resolved with "lead from behind", and would have been easier to get out of if a "just follow" formation existed.
Note: Some mistakenly liken this title to Rage of Mages, but point-to-point overworld and blue color of orcs are the only common points.
