"Holt formed The Holt Manufacturing Company in the early 20th century five years after Holt's death in December 1920." What does this mean? Forming a company from beyond the grave is a good trick! I suggest the sentence be removed entirely, unless someone can make it make some sense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bogolov (talkcontribs) 15:54, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Swinton's Visit to Stockton.

[edit]

April 1918 was not "after WWI". Swinton did not thank Holt for helping to win the War - in April 1918 the War was still in progress, and the Allies were in considerable danger of losing it, as German offensives on the Western Front had been pushing them back since March 21st. A transcript of Swinton's speech was carried in the Caterpillar News of May, 1918.Hengistmate (talk) 23:15, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Purchase of Hornsby Patents.

[edit]

Holt's track was far superior to the Hornsby, and Holt wasn't interested in the track itself, which was much more complex and vulnerable than his own. His principal reason for the purchase was Hornsby's transmission, which allowed the vehicle to be steered rather than manhandled round turns. It's only a mildly important part of the story, and, I would suggest, certainly not sufficiently so as to warrant a mention in the lead. Hengistmate (talk) 20:47, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
