Mitchell's rank in the UVF
[edit]What was Mitchell's rank in the UVF? The article should state this if it is known.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 14:17, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
- I just read in an article that said Mitchell was a UVF commander. I would presume this was the Shankill UVF Brigade.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 14:21, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
Cause of death
[edit]I haven't been able to find the cause of his death.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 15:02, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
- It was a heart attack, so have added this to the article.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 15:06, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
Was Billy Mitchell the "William Mitchell" who stood in East Londonderry for the PUP in 1996? I haven't been able to find any evidence either way. Warofdreams talk 16:12, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
Role in 1974 Dublin bombings
[edit]The role Mitchell played in the 1974 Dublin bombings needs to be mentioned. He and an East Belfast UVF commander allegedly stole a Ford Escort from the Docks area of Belfast. The two men drove it down to north Dublin where it was loaded with a bomb. This was the car that exploded in Talbot Street killing a total of 14 people.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 13:56, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- I have since added it to the article.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 15:52, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
