Why should this link to Fists of Righteous Harmony members when it could just be linking to Boxer Rebellion? link changed to Boxer Rebellion, from "Fists of Righteous Harmony members, that lead the Chinese Boxer Rebellion in 1900"—Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.171.247.106 (talk) 01:58, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Boxer (disambiguation)Boxer – It seems unclear, especially when using third party search engines, if readers looking up the term "boxer" are primarily looking for someone who participates in the sport of boxing or Boxer (breed). This looks like a case where there are co-dominant subjects where it is not clear which one readers are looking for when searching the term. Steel1943 (talk) 18:52, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Move Boxer (dog) to Boxer. When I search on Google, the dog breed is definitely the most prominent subject, and Google is pretty good at knowing what people are searching for when they search a certain term. Since we don't even have an article on human "boxers", I would be inclined to make the dog breed the primary, with a hatnote at the top pointing to Boxing and the DAB page. Rreagan007 (talk) 22:00, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. And strongly oppose the above suggestion to make the dog breed primary; the article pageviews of Boxer (dog) and Boxer (armoured fighting vehicle) are very similar [1]. Boxing gets more than both of those, though, and Boxer is a justified primary redirect to it. 162 etc. (talk) 16:16, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This argument doesn't take into account how many readers are looking up the term "Boxer" with the intent to arrive at Boxing. In fact, per a comparison of page views, the term "boxer" is used so sparingly compared to Boxer (dog) or Boxer (armoured fighting vehicle) that there is basically no validity to the claim that readers looking up the term "boxer" intend to go to "boxing" at all. Steel1943 (talk) 17:10, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Boxing has 39,692 views but Boxer the armoured fighting vehicle has 26,915, the dog has 23,849, the National Album has 2,361 and the computer science has 244[[2]]. Since many readers will search for Boxing as such rather than "Boxer" its clearly not primary by usage even if arguably primary by long-term significance. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:31, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nomination and Crouch, Swale. There are 47 bulleted entries listed upon the Boxer (disambiguation) page, with no indication that users researching the sport of boxing would nonetheless type "Boxer", rather than "Boxing", to such a predominant degree as to overshadow the combined notability of the remaining 46 entries under "Boxer (disambiguation)". —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 00:53, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Clear primary topic by long-term significance. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:35, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per Crouch, Swale. Colin M (talk) 16:32, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom.--Ortizesp (talk) 19:14, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. The Primary Topic criteria require the topic to be more significant than all others, taken together. The combination of the dog breed and the fighting vehicle, taken together, contradict the claim for a primary redirect to boxing. Andrewa (talk) 23:14, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I redirected 'boxers' here, but it should perhaps be a separate dab page. Srnec (talk) 13:19, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
