Interlaced

[edit]

Isn't the correct term 'gantlet'? LorenzoB 11:21, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's gauntlet track, but interlaced is acceptable. Slambo (Speak) 15:29, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dates and sources

[edit]

The bridge was completed in 1855, but the first train crossed the river two years earlier? Are those dates correct? Did they send trains across a half-finished bridge? I have serious doubts. I have similarly serious doubts about the external link provided in the article; it confirms the 1855 completion date, but gets the engineer's background wrong, calling him Scottish. The answer for the first question is that while the current viaduct was indeed completed in 1855, there was a temporary rail bridge across the river before that; I'll source that in the article later tonight, when I can get to books on someone else's bookshelf. (The temporary bridge is mentioned in the Drogheda railway station article.) FlowerpotmaN·(t) 19:22, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Err, make that tonight :). Have at least one source, but won;t have a chance to do anything with it unti later today. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 14:16, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Not exactly a triumph of prose, but ref provided for the temporary bridge. Removed the external link; it really didn't add anything to the article apart from getting the origins of MacNeill wrong. I'll look around for some better external sites FlowerpotmaN·(t) 22:53, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, good job! Huon (talk) 22:55, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
