PLEASE NOTE
[edit]This is a talk page specifically about relating to an island. If you have a need to write a lengthy polemic, wikipedia entries are not for you. Try somewhere else! Places that you should be directing your problem/opinion should be the talk page of: Stolen Generation or similar pages.
If you have difficulty understanding what Wikipedia is, please take time to read the introduction for new editors to see that what you have written below is inappropriate at least for (a) what a talk page is (b) NPOV, (c) References (d) signing entries -= along with a number of obvious misunderstandings about wikipedia.SatuSuro 01:10, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Original research removed
[edit]Below removed. Seems like a made-up on the internet type of distinction. Australia itself is not an Island.
Cape Barren Island has the distinction of being the largest island of the largest island (Flinders Island) of the largest island (Tasmania) of the largest island (Australia). Format (talk) 08:10, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
Palawa name?
[edit]It would be lovely to have a Palawa (Indigenous Tasmanian) name for Cape Barren Island - in fact if one existed I would like to see the "official" name for the the Island changed to match! One doubts very much that such a name exists, however, as the Bass Strait Islands did not support indigenous populations "pre-invasion" - in fact no-one lived there, and indigenous Tasmanians lacked the seafaring ability to visit it. In particular, the name supplied closely resembles "Trowenna", which, we are told, is the original name for Tasmania itself. REALLY need a source for this one, as I think we'd all love this to be factual! --Soundofmusicals (talk) 22:30, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
- O.K. - point taken that the local community want to use that name - rather a shame, as I'd like to see the name for Tasmania (which is what I still understand it to be) to one day apply to the whole state - seems a shame to waste it. --Soundofmusicals (talk) 20:51, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
