Rename, please
[edit]The article should better be called Catalan Civil War. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.223.91.116 (talk) 00:29, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
- @37.223.91.116: Probably, but it's not a slam-dunk. Formerly, 'Catalonian...' used to be preferred in adjectival use, in expressions of this sort, whereas since the 1950s or so 'Catalan...' seems to be preferred, at least in this example. But these terms are not exactly the ones sought, so the example could be better. You're probably right, but I'd like to see some better data about this from histories written in English. - There are no Ngrams for "Catalan civil war" either. Zero. In any case, if you admit that sources do use the current title, why are you scrubbing it from the article? Srnec (talk) 12:30, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
- After review the literature, I'd opt for a re-title. If User:Mathglot agrees, then I will propose it as uncontroversial at WP:RM. (The page requires an admin to move.) In any case, both forms should stay in the lead. I don't think "Catalonian" is merely old. I think some scholars use the terms to mean different things. Not everything Catalonian is culturally/linguistically Catalan. Srnec (talk) 13:56, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

- I *just* acquired pagemover status as a non-admin so we don't need an admin to do it, I think; otoh I'm involved so I'll have to read up on whether I should recuse myself from actually performing one. In the meantime, I didn't totally follow what it was that you consider uncontroversial; can you elaborate a bit please Srnec? Mathglot (talk) 22:17, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
- I just meant that if the anon proposes it, and you and I agree, then I don't see a need to open up a wider discussion. It is highly unlikely to be a controversial move. (I created the page years ago but haven't edited it much at all since then. I see it has not grown much more ~10% since I wrote it, however.) Both "Catalonian" and "Catalan" are used in this context and I'm inclined to think the latter is now more common. Srnec (talk) 23:46, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

Rene of Anjou
[edit]The article says that Rene of Anjou died in 1470, and so the Catalans lost a major support. In fact he died 10 July 1480, so I don't know where this leaves the argument, otherwise I would have made the minor edit.1f2 (talk) 06:17, 7 August 2017 (UTC)
