Major edits completed

[edit]

I just made major edits to this article today, finding sources for what I could, and removing the rest of the unsourced material. The last few editors have been IPs, so I'm not sure who may be watching the page, but I'll keep it on my watchlist for a couple weeks in case anyone with an interest wants my rationale for the changes.
Happy editing!

Prior content in this article duplicated one or more previously published sources. Copied or closely paraphrased material has been rewritten or removed and must not be restored, unless it is duly released under a compatible license. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or published material; such additions will be deleted. Contributors may use copyrighted publications as a source of information, and, if allowed under fair use, may copy sentences and phrases, provided they are included in quotation marks and referenced properly. The material may also be rewritten, providing it does not infringe on the copyright of the original or plagiarize from that source. Therefore, such paraphrased portions must provide their source. Conflict-of-interest editing

[edit]

At least one major contributor to this article appears to have a close personal or professional connection to the topic, and thus to have a conflict of interest. Conflict-of-interest editors are strongly discouraged from editing the article directly, but are always welcome to propose changes on the talk page (i.e., here). You can attract the attention of other editors by putting {{request edit}} (exactly so, with the curly parentheses) at the beginning of your request. Requests that are unduly long, or are not supported by independent reliable sources, are unlikely to be accepted.

Please also note that our Terms of Use state that "you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation." An editor who contributes as part of his or her paid employment is required to disclose that fact. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 11:36, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Add bioethicist as a category?

Hi, I've been flagged as a COI on the Celia B. Fisher page.

The reverted information is incorrect. She is the Marie Ward Doty University Chair in Ethics, not psychology. Her appointment as a professor of psychology is not related. You can find that here on her faculty page. https://www.fordham.edu/info/21660/faculty_and_staff/5337/celia_fisher

She is also the Director for the HIV/Drug Abuse Prevention Research Ethics Institute, which is sourced in these places: https://projectreporter.nih.gov/project_info_description.cfm?aid=9664600&icde=45212381&ddparam=&ddvalue=&ddsub=&cr=1&csb=default&cs=ASC&pball= https://nihrecord.nih.gov/newsletters/2019/06_14_2019/story6.htm http://www.bioethics.net/2019/06/dr-fisher-presents-with-reti-fellows-at-the-national-institute-on-minority-health-and-health-disparities/

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emmawonsil (talkcontribs) 18:00, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have also disclosed my employment on my profile User:justlettersandnumbers, will my suggested edits be looked at now? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emmawonsil (talkcontribs) 18:12, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Emmawonsil, that disclosure is appropriate and sufficient. I've made the more important change you requested above (that error introduced in the very first version of the page, which unfortunately you can't see). I'm going to leave the HIV/Drug Abuse Prevention Research Ethics Institute for someone else to respond to – I can't see any evidence that this institution is worthy of much notice. It gets, for example, one hit on Google Scholar; curiously, that page is written by one Celia B. Fisher. Fordham seems to think it's a part of the Center for Ethics Education. Hi @Emmawonsil: Thank you for your disclosure. I've made the requested edit. Orville1974talk 19:32, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
