Anyone know how to make that picture smaller? It takes up more than half the page.--Xdiabolicalx 19:20, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Genres

[edit]

OK, I've been watching the reverts on this from the sidelines for a while now, and I'd like to suggest starting a discussion so that consensus is reached as to exactly what the types of music this guy plays are really called. Radiopathy •talk• 00:11, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest simply calling his style "Metal", in order to avoid any confusion. -Shawn Crapo 16:36, 13 May 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sec 1971 (talkcontribs)

I'd call it Death Metal. 67.140.50.81 (talk) 15:13, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Though he has had some experience brushing on other genres, the overall genre that he's known for is Death Metal. (Loserbrett (talk) 03:54, 22 April 2010 (UTC))[reply]

"Extremely Low Guttural Vocals?"

[edit]

Chris Barnes was great back in 92 but is it really fair to say he is known for having an extremely low growl? Just watch this and you should be convinced that he's not anywhere near the vocalist he was in 92.

Six Feet Under - Seed of Filth

His vocals are hardly even a growl anymore. He was one of the best vocalists if not the best in 1992, but those days are long gone. 67.140.50.81 (talk) 15:12, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's still valid. The growl may have changed but that doesn't change the fact that it's what he's known for. It's a statement suggesting that he's developed a reputation for a low growl (most likely from the '92 days that you've mentioned). Changing his voice in recent years doesn't change what he did back in '92 so the claim is still valid.

There are many reasons why metal vocalists change their style, the most likely candidate would be vocal health concerns although I must admit I haven't heard of anything like that with Chris in particular. For example: James Hetfield is known for having a dirty baritone voice still even though he's switched to a more clean vocal styling after blowing out his vocal chords while recording "So What". However, it doesn't change the idea that he's known for the dirty baritone vocal styling. (Loserbrett (talk) 03:50, 22 April 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Guitarist?

[edit]

I noticed that among his occupations it said guitarist. I never heard that Chris Barnes was a guitarist. I'm not questioning that he was just yet, but can anyone provide an example of anything at all, a live performace, a song, a side project or anything where Chris Barnes does or has played guitars? 67.140.50.81 (talk) 15:17, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
