The Voice

[edit]

A detail area for performance/progress data is redundant, since all that data is included in the article for the main show; all that's really essential is mention of participation. Absurdist1968 (talk) 02:23, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Absurdist1968: Sure, except... This isn't the article for the main show. A person viewing this page might want the information specifically for Dawn and Hawkes on THIS page for convenience instead of having to go to the main article and sifting through the information of other unrelated contestants. Having all their performances on this page is good for one condensed, convenient package. FaceOffTournament (talk) 02:29, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@FaceOffTournament: I don't intend to change anything, nor will I insist than anyone else change anything, but in the interest of uniformity across Wikipedia, detailed progress tables would need to be included for everyone who's ever been a contestant on a competitive reality show, and I can point to contestant pages for at least two competitive reality shows where that's not the case (we can start with "America's Next Top Model" or "So You Think You Can Dance," where non-winners who otherwise don't meet Wikipedia's requirements for notability are lumped into season pages, and at least in the case of Top Model winners, detailed progress tables aren't included at all), and at a certain point adding that much redundant material between pages makes Wikipedia articles read more like interactive fan pages. As often as not, mention of a contestant's participation in a competition show that already has a main or season article along with a link to that show/season seems to suffice; again, I say that in the interest of uniformity; this article's subject is noteworthy enough on his own (though naturally there will be other editors for whom that assertion would be open to debate), and readers who are interested in tracking his participation on "The Voice" can click on a link to an article where that information is already included (especially since duplicating the information requires coding a second table, not to mention locating and/or duplicating all the relevant references). Absurdist1968 (talk) 08:22, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Absurdist1968: It's actually a norm for The Voice's contestants, if that means anything to you. And again, just for the convenience of the reader. I'm sure they'd prefer to have all the information exclusively regarding Dawn and Hawkes in one convenient package. If they become interested in the other contestants as well, that's where the main article comes in. :) FaceOffTournament (talk) 11:13, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@FaceOffTournament:: Norm? Inconsistently at best, but, hey, knock yourself out. Absurdist1968 (talk) 09:34, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Absurdist1968:I see someone deleted the information. Since I'm not even a fan of D&H (just wanted to keep the consistency going from the last few seasons' contestants), I won't re-add and get into an edit war since I ultimately don't even care.
