reconcile debut date with team's years in the infobox

[edit]

It caught my eye that the debut date in the infobox was September 11, 1965 and the team's years in the infobox began in 1966. Upon further investigation I found the following:

1. The MLB player page indicated a September 11, 1965 debut, but the year's with the Cubs beginning in 1966 under the pitching stats. When one moves to the batting stats, it becomes apparent that he appeared in 1 game in 1965 but with no AB (or BB).
2. The Baseball-Reference (Major) page has a similar debut date and indicating that he had no PA.
3. The Baseball-Reference (Minors) page indicates that he was in the majors for one day only: September 11, 1965.
4. Finally, a look at the September 11, 1965 page at Baseball-Reference for the Cubs at Giants game yields the letters PR, "Chuck Hartenstein pinch runs for John Boccabella (PH) batting 9th" in the top of the 7th inning, and "Byron Browne replaces Chuck Hartenstein (PR) playing LF batting 9th" in the bottom of the 7th. The Retrosheet page for the same date says "CUBS 7TH: ... HARTENSTEIN RAN FOR BOCCABELLA ... Debut game for Chuck Hartenstein" and "GIANTS 7TH: ... BROWNE REPLACED HARTENSTEIN" (emphasis in the original).

Reliable sources state that he played in 1965 as a pinch runner. Therefore, I have adjusted the years in the infobox to begin with 1965 for the Chicago Cubs. Bob305 (talk) 22:36, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
