82-yard Pass

[edit]

"During Long's rookie season in the NFL, he was called into the game after an injury suffered by then-starting Quarterback Joe Ferguson, on the following play from scrimmage, Long promptly threw an 82 yard touchdown strike to the back of the endzone."

This cannot be accurate. An 82-yard pass to the back of the end zone would stand alone as the greatest throw in professional football history. It's far more likely that this was either a catch and run for an 82-yard touchdown, or Chuck Norris passing the ball. If anyone can find a video of the throw, I suggest you update this. Ha...very funny, and good point. Found documentation in Drew Stanton's Detroit Lions bio that Stanton was the second Lion quarterback to throw a TD pass on his first attempt. The first was Chuck Long completing a 37 yard touchdown pass on his first pro throw. Makes much more sense. Added the info with citation. Rozehawk (talk) 16:39, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
