Coach Ernie PantussoErnie Pantusso – I tried to rename Emmett Brown to "Doc Emmett Brown", but the result was not moved. There is Marshal Matt Dillon, but it has "Marshal" to distinguish the fictional lead character of Gunsmoke from the actor Matt Dillon. There is no other existing character/person "Ernie Pantuso". In the show, he is always called "Coach", as Emmett Brown has been called Doc. However, people prefer omitting "Doc", so "Coach" should be omitted, as well, to be consistent with titles named after Cheers characters' full names. Alternatively, you can vote for "Ernie Pantuso", which is the accurate name of the character. Per WP:COMMONNAMES, an accurate name should be used; regardless of sources, an inaccurate name should not be used. "Pantusso" is a misspelling of the Italian surname "Pantuso"; I wonder why "reliable" sources use 'Pantusso'. This character is undeniably Italian, albeit implied. Actually, WP:COMMONNAME also says that a commonly-used name may be used... as long as it's unambiguous and accurate to the topic. DVDs, producers, and other primary sources use "Pantuso" also, and "Pantuso" was spelled incorrectly as "Pantusso" because of non-Italians' lack of knowledge of Italian culture. The portrayer himself was Italian. But I guess you still need to read the policy again. George Ho (talk) 22:59, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
  • Oppose per Cuchullain. As noted in the lede of the article and confirmed in the sources, the character is always known as "coach", so that needs to be part of the name. As for the nominator's call to change the spelling of the name contrary to the sources ... WP:OR is thataway.--BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 01:00, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
  • Oppose In theory, I'd support the title Coach (Cheers), because that provides the most relevant information regarding the character. Eliminating Coach is contrary to sources, and confusing to readers. Xoloz (talk) 03:45, 15 February 2014 (UTC)
