Model Formatting[edit]

Open to ideas to get more consistency. I would suggest model name followed by production dates enclosed in brackets/parentheses: Tecnos (xxxx-xxxx): <brief description of model> <Outside link if available> Use the cxxxx for models where the dates are not certain or in dispute.

I undid a change that tried to separate out the C series from the other carbon bikes. I think consistency across all the materials sections with the oldest of the frame material listed first works better. (The problem of separating the lugged carbon from the monoquoque frames is that it blurs the history, since Colnago themselves developed both at the same time, and not all of the "C" series bikes are lug and tube.) We might like the c40/c50 better than the CX1, but I think date order will work better. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paredown (talkcontribs) 18:32, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled[edit]

--on the neutrality issue--I tried to clear up the first round of controversy over the country of manufacture for the Colnago frames, but it could use updating for current production. I think that the sources are now neutral enough that the flag should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paredown (talkcontribs) 18:36, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

On the quality of 70s and 80s colnagos, http://www.sheldonbrown.com/vrbn-a-f.html suggests that though they may not have been using imports they were producing some cheap bikes during this time along with their high end. -dialectric --I moved reference from Sheldon's page to end of para to take echo the page's comment about variable quality; hope that answers --paredown

Things to add: date details for the various models, and a standard form, eg model name, brief description, (Production dates, using ~ to indicate date not known exactly).

there were/are lots of rumors regarding subcontractors: -Titanium bike frames made in Russia see http://forums.thepaceline.net/printthread.php?t=77452&pp=40 -subcontractors producing Super frames after Colnago's attention shifted away from steel bike construction I can find no source for these so I have not included them. I've tried to clean up the Italy vs Taiwan section and provide references--I think it is passable now.

There is one dead reference on the external sources Daniel Cavialleri's article that used to be hosted by eBkyr--not sure what to do with that.

also rauler is commonly known as the manufacturer in contract from colnago to produce the arabesque and the masters, so a combined timeline of the two would be nice to see

  • Agreed--although a sentence added to the text of the manufacturing section would work, but we need to have a source. So far I have not found it in a readily accessible online source, although the question of subcontracting goes all the way back to the late Supers, and everyone agrees that Rauler did do the Arabesques and the CT series titaniums were produced in the former Soviet Union--but--we need a source to reference to make the claim.
