Pronunciation[edit]

User:69.206.168.201, please stop replacing the accurate IPA pronunciation of Cétchathach with your totally inaccurate "ked kasey" or "kahassy". The later is a reasonable prononciation of the Irish name Cathasaigh (/'ka-θa-siɣ/ > /'ka-ha-si/), which eventually became Anglicised as "Casey". But Cathach (/'ka-θax/ > /'ka-hax/) is not the same name as Cathasaigh, and is not and was never pronounced "Casey", nor was it Anglicised as "Casey". The fact that Cathasaigh has an s in it, and Cathach doesn't, should give you a clue that they're different names, that happen to have the same first element, cath, battle, in them. --Nicknack009 (talk) 21:53, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Beg pardon? While I didn't touch the pronuciation bit on the main page, nor intend to, I must state I feel you're mistaken somewhere. One thing I noticed when learning Irish was that the language doesn't seem to possess the θ sound, every 'th' gaphy I found being either mute or rendered using an aspiration (h) sound. So, I deduhahaxce that an approximate pronunciation of 'Cétchathach' would sound, in english, like something written 'ket hahax' (sorry for the non IPA writing, I have no idea how to get those from my keyboard).

It's frustrating to have to get to the very end of the article to get context of antiquity. Also, given such an early date, was this person myth/legend/historical?
