- First of all, thank you for wanting to help build this online encyclopedia! Keep it up!
- Probably the first thing to do with this article is to make sure there are reliable sources that are independent of the topic of this article, as is mentioned below. Also, when editing a talk page, the ~~~~ goes at the end of your comment. See the talk page guidelines for more information. I know there is a lot of information to read about, so it will take a while to digest it all. I hope you will keep working on improving your WP editing skills. YBG (talk) 08:24, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
Sources
[edit]This article does not cite any sources except for single link to the school's website. It appears that the article started out as a mere reformatting of the information from that web site, although some of it now appears to be paraphrased. The article badly needs references to sources that are independent of CJM. Also, if editors are related to this school, they need to read the conflict of interest guidelines, remember that WP is not advertising (and write accordingly) and probably declare their relationship on this talk page. - Five entries were added to the References section: two business listings, two blog posts, and one mere mention. But they are of no value in demonstrating the notability of CJM Waverley; for the business listings are not independent, the blogs are not reliable and the mention is not significant coverage. —teb728 t c 00:01, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
- The relevant policies for notability are WP:NSCHOOL and WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES. YBG (talk) 00:13, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
Copyright violations
[edit]I have removed all but the first sentence of the "History" section and all of the "Houses" section, because they were almost identical to http://www.cjmwaverley.org/School-history.aspx and http://www.cjmwaverley.org/House_system.aspx, respectively. Those source pages have the copyright notice, "© Copyright 2016 All rights reserved by, Convent of Jesus & Mary, Waverley, Mussoorie - 248179, Uttarakhand, India." The "History" section was also unambiguously promotional. If you want to include information on these subjects, write it in your own words and from a neutral point of view. —teb728 t c 08:46, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
- The curriculum section is a very close paraphrase of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convent_of_Jesus_and_Mary,_Waverley,_Mussoorie. I believe it was almost YBG (talk) 05:35, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
January 2017 History
[edit]I reverted the following in the history section because the article already suffers from having no inline references.
- Convent of Jesus and Mary, Waverley was established in 18 September 1845 by the Religious of Jesus and Mary, three years after they arrived in Agra. It was the first of the Convent Boarding School on the hills of the Northern Provinces.
- The original estate belonged to an Indian and there were three houses on it- Waverley, Belmont and Thistle Bank. Waverley became a first class boarding school, chiefly for the daughters of officers Belmont was run as a second class boarding school for a short while and then became simply a junior school Thistle Bank was, and still, is the Chaplain’s residence.
- The first community consisted of five Nuns of whom Mother Gonzaga was the Superior, and they arrived from Dehradun in bullock cart a very different mode of transport from our comfortable jeep! Through the years was necessary to make changes and additions to the original buildings as the original ones were almost completely destroyed in the great earthquake of 1905. Further addition and improvement were made by the different Superiors as the years went by. With the recent addition of new class rooms laboratories, dormitories, playgrounds and infirmary the school has almost completely changed its original appearance.
If inline citations to reliable sources can be provided, please re-add it to the article. Thank you. YBG (talk) 15:42, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
