This little stublet is awful, and horribly useless. Last thing the wiki needs is rambling self centered pondering on what is the cookie and what is the creme in cookies and creme. If, god forbid it happens, this is kept as a page it would need to be longer and the entire section after common in... needs to be reworded and corrected.--68.231.174.183 09:50, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Cookies and vs. Cream
[edit]- Haha to be honest, my roommate and I looked this up specifically to break our debate about whether the cream meant the oreo cream or the icecream. So yes, someone is interested (I was hoping for an answer though, not somebody's pondering). But I do agree that this article is painfully bad and needs the attentions of somebody who - to be honest - cares more than I do. I will, however, cut out the most offending paragraph, and leave it here for somebody with gumption to improve upon:
- "Some would argue that the "cream" of cookies and cream is understood to be the plain or vanilla ice cream the cookies are most commonly crushed in. This argument is sound since the cookie part is understood to include the cream within the cookie. This is correct that the cream is ice cream and the cookie is oreo (with a cream filling)."

- My fundamental question would be whether there is a history of non-Oreo-style cookies being used with Ice Cream, and the resulting concoction being called "Cookies and Cream." If so, the cream definitely refers to ice cream. If not, it means nothing. --MrColJ, 24 August 2006
OBJECTION! The ice cream in cookies n' creme is demonstrably not vanilla. It's a 'cleaner' flavor, and a purer white color. It seems clear to me it's meant to evoke the 'creme' filling in the sandwich cookies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.72.206.153 (talk) 06:42, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

History citations
[edit]I'm the jerk who put [citation needed] on all three speculations of history, simply because I know someone who said she invented it for a particular ice cream company, again in the late 70s/early 80s. If there ever was need of citations, this is the time. --MrColJ, 24 August 2006
I have removed the Portland, Oregon passage in its entirety. The original contribution was immediately altered by the same user with a bogus-sounding name. It has not been supported since, nor has that editor made any other contributions. Ibadibam (talk) 00:24, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
