Cultural References
[edit]When you do the cultural references section, make sure you mention that Kenny's last words before he shoots himself at the end of the episode mirror George Reeves' (1st actor to play Superman) last words before he shot himself. Pretty deep for South Park. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.175.95.247 (talk) 00:47, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
Also the "cute kitten" technique used by Cartman is based on a cartoon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.80.37.117 (talk) 14:26, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
- That's right, it was from Marc Antony and Pussyfoot. This seems like it belongs in the article, I'll see if I can find a source for it Poobslag (talk) 16:17, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
- I couldn't find a source; does it belong in the article anyways? It's unsourced, but it's very obviously a reference to the Chuck Jones cartoon, anybody who's seen the cartoon would recognize it instantly. Poobslag (talk) 16:18, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
- ^Did you really spend a whole minute looking for a source?! Hoof Hearted (talk) 20:14, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
Why?
[edit]Why is the image of Justin Bieber up for speedy deletion? It's a fair image of a portrayal of a celebrity in a TV show.
Did Wikipedia take some lessons from 4kids in censorship or something? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.32.14.167 (talk) 02:28, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
- No it's not, it's a copyrighted non-free image. The rules and guidelines limit the number of such images. Really there should only be the image in infobox. Sarujo (talk) 08:46, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
Additional, obscure reference?
[edit]Someone pointed out to me that the appearance of Mint Berry Crunch's father (which happens to be the image used in the infobox; link) looks a lot like an early bit from Limahl's music video to The NeverEnding Story --which was loosely reference, alongside the more prominent My Neighbor Totoro references, in the previous Mysterion Rises episode. Please see 0:20 in this YouTube video: (direct link to 0:20 here). I think that's it --the look of the apparatus and (especially) the look of Mint Berty Crunch's father look very similar. What do people think? --Bobak (talk) 22:03, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
I concur film of NeverEnding Story is being used as pastiche by South Park. In an early part of the 3-episode arc, Cthulhu has Cartman ride on his back; during this, a song is playing; then the mythical creature helps the child in a supernatural manner. All of these elements were present when Bastian rides Falcor in NeverEnding Story. Whether this is also occurring in the third episode I could merely speculate; the resemblance to Limahl could be from one of the films related to NeverEnding Story but with which I am not acquainted.drone5 (talk) 10:11, 21 December 2010 (UTC) drone5 (talk) 10:11, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
What was shown on the surface of the moon when DP was drilling? It appeared to me to be a dead killer whale and a dead person. I know that the whale is an easter egg to a previous episode, but I'm not sure about the person. Any ideas? FiggazWithAttitude (talk) 20:02, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
Final episode?
[edit]The third sentence states "It is the third and final part of the three part story arc started with Coon 2 and continued with "Mysterion Rises,"" but Reference #1 for this statement says nothing about this being the final episode. Granted they've never done a story arc longer than three continuous episodes, but the only other reference to this being the final episode was the article linked at IGN on Reference #2. The South Park forums are speculating there may be another episode yet in this story, so if someone can pinpoint whether or not this is in fact the final episode it would be appreciated.
- We'll see next Wednesday. Until then, it seems that everything's explained, every mystery solved and the story is over. If not, we'll be able to change it.--JakobvS (talk) 12:32, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
Spoiler image
[edit]Does anyone else think that the image pretty much ruins the episode for anyone who has not yet seen it? I'd like to remove/replace it if no one minds. Hearfourmewesique (talk) 02:02, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree Poobslag (talk) 22:26, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
Justin Bieber
[edit]Someone should point out that unlike every other Canadian ever in South Park, Bieber looks "normal", not split-headed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.150.172.40 (talk) 19:54, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
- Not "unlike every other". In Whale Whores, Canadian Paul Watson also wasn't split-headed. --82.171.70.54 (talk) 18:48, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
- In Terrance and Phillip in Not Without My Anus, Celine Dion was split-headed, so it seems to be random. --82.171.70.54 (talk) 19:03, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Tool logo
[edit]Tool (band) reference at the beginning in Cartman's basement, anyone? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.108.169.9 (talk) 19:20, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Kenny's abnormal growth rate
[edit]seems to be a direct reference to The Dunwich Horror, where another boy also 'matures at an abnormal rate, reaching manhood within a decade'. This implies, Kenny's Dad is not his real dad.
Yeah. However, this speculation is not verifiable for this page, though maybe an inspiration for future episodes dealing with Kenny's background, just in case someone of SP-studios reads this? Thinking of "Rosemary's Baby". Kenny's immortality wouldn't just depend on his mother and would be more than just a banal accident of some know-nothings dealing with esoteric stuff.--JakobvS (talk) 11:09, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
