Request edit[edit]

Below section about the Ah-Teck family is completely untrue and we request it to be removed as soon as possible.

"Tommy Ah-Teck received 19.7 arpents at Albion Beach for the construction of a brand new hotel through his company Insignia Leisure Resorts Ltd. Ah-Teck's company Gamma renovated and extended the house owned by Nandanee Oogarah-Soornack, the girlfriend of ex-Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam. Another of Ah-Teck's company (Lottotech) was granted its gambling-house permit by Navin Ramgoolam. Ah Teck's group of companies Gamma has made donations in excess of Rs18.5 Millions to political parties between 2010 and 2014 when Labour Party was in power." 102.118.202.250 (talk) 19:30, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@BerwickKent: I had removed that section as the reference cited did not actually mention any of that, although its possible I missed something. Could you point out the source, or any quality source, that backs up that info? CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 02:55, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This material is fully referenced, otherwise it would not have been entered in the article.

Suggestion to delete the section with Sol Kerzner's passport scandal[edit]

I am wondering if this section is relevant for the article on corruption in Mauritius:

"Sol Kerzner's Passport scandal In 1989, hotel and casino magnate Sol Kerzner acknowledged that he had bribed the leader of Transkei George Matanzima in 1986 in order to preserve Sun International's monopoly on gambling licenses in Transkei, South Africa. This revelation became a scandal in Mauritius, where Sol Kerzner has recently opened a hotel along the western coast of Mauritius and had even received a Mauritian passport. The member of Parliament who had endorsed the citizenship and passport application was Ivan Collendavelloo. He was forced to resign from Parliament by his party, the MMM. This triggered by-elections in Constituency No. 15 where Collendavelloo lost his bid for re-election to a political newcomer.[12][13]"

Sol Kerzner was an African businessman, who had stakes in Mauritius. However, none of the articles confirm that there was a illegal/ corruption scandal that took place in Mauritius. Ivan Collendavelloo endorsed his passport application, but, there wasn't any charge of bribery or corruption involved here to include this case in the article. It could be simple case of negligence. Either we should add more references to confirm that there was corruption involved in providing him the citizenship, or delete the overall mention. Vg1989 (talk) 14:37, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sun Tan Hotels, Palmar and Crown Land lease scandal (DPP Boolell)[edit]

@AditiB00: Good day. I object to the removal of the section here. My reasoning are as follows: First of all, any corruption case will never be outdated. Criminal cases are unlike trends, they will never be outdated. Even if the case happened long time ago, the case HAD happened. Second, if the Ministry of Housing has send a letter absolving Sun Tan, you must provide sources that confirmed this. If you have such source, please add it to the section instead of deleting the whole section. Thank you! SunDawn (talk) 11:05, 20 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
