POV notice

[edit]

Does this need to be explained in detail? Hopefully the article will be deleted soon, so this is just temporary cover. Sumahoy 01:39, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Keep this article but add more information...

[edit]

If this article is to be deleted then so shall the article under the same heading in reference.com as they are nearly identicle save that this article has cut out a few superfluous words. I would like to see more information on what exactly defines a consumer and a capitalist nation for all those who may not be aware of these concepts and their direct application to Americans.

Inaccuracies

[edit]

FTA: "Motivated by the accumulation of personal wealth (not always in the terms of cash flow); the idea that the business' desire for profit is the main motivation of the economy, regardless of environmental issues."

This is incorrect, many capitalists regard market forces as a viable pro-environment force. Also, some consider environmental issues to be property rights issues. Sources:

The second link has a few decent sources as well. Aaron (talk) 09:26, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously many people taking part in capitalist economic activities (so it can be assumed part of the culture of capitalism) are supporters of human rights and environmental protection.BigJim707 (talk) 06:54, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Expand, cite

[edit]

There are no sources/references in this article. It's in need of expansion and thorough research. I feel the concept is sound, however. LegalTech (talk) 20:54, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Delete

[edit]

While much of what the article says is at least partly true, the form of the article is a violation of WP:Not a dictionary since it is about the expression. The material is already covered in Capitalism and other articles. If the Prod is removed I will nominate it for deletion. BigJim707 (talk) 06:51, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Complete rewrite 2014

[edit]

I have restored this page as a separate article from the main capitalism article because the concept is sound and is referenced in the social sciences (particularly in anthropology and sociology). I have completely rewritten it with citations (because the previous article was poorly-written and un-sourced).-Battlecry 01:48, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
