Confused Syntax
[edit]The following sentence ends the introduction to the topic: 'As a result of their direct access to the sea, unlike most non-landlocked settlements of the ancient world, trade is believed to have prospered.' The sense of these three convoluted clauses escapes understandings. Trade doesn't normally prosper at coastal settlements? Completely false, if that is indeed what is intended.
