Use of commercial website as reference
[edit]I'd like some input on the use of a commercial website as a reference. This may be construed as a violation of CsD G11 but I'm not sure. Padillah (talk) 19:21, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- G11 doesn't apply here because the article doesn't exist exclusively to promote the article subject and it doesn't need a complete rewrite to become encyclopedic. The link you mentioned is the official website of the article subject; the relevant policy regarding the use of such sites as references is WP:SELFPUB. The article's subject certainly appears to meet WP:BIO notability requirements, if interested parties want to add reliable references to substantiate the article. --Muchness (talk) 03:17, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- Muchness has it right. This is a SELFPUB problem if anything, and a commercial reference would not poison an otherwise valid biography. Cool Hand Luke 01:29, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks guys. Just checking. Padillah (talk) 12:24, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
I added the "http://" portion to the web pages you referenced so that people can easily click thru to the web sites. Bigweeboy
