Minature sickles?

[edit]

Are they not Kama?

No. He'e based on the European personification of Death, and like him uses the harvesting tools (sickle and scythe) symbolically. It wouldn't make sense for him to use a ninja weapon.

Mathias is Dracula

[edit]

In the official Japanese Lament of Innocence guidebook it states that Mathias later became known as Dracula: [1]. It is in the last line of text. You can translate with and online translator if you wish, most do a pretty good job of rendering it. So please don't change any Castlevania page to state that Mathias "may have become" Dracula. The fact that they are one in the same is widely known in the Castlevania fan base. Guermantes 18:19, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Death as an omage

[edit]

He may well not be Death itself at all. Many famous serial killers have identified themselves with or as Death. If so he may literally be just a minion of Dracula with grandiose delusions who calls himself Death (as an omage or delusion). I really cant see Death referring to a mortal as "Master" under any circumstances, partnership or not.--Darkling235 16:42, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dracula isn't a mortal, he's a vampire. 66.63.86.156 14:55, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Several Castlevania texts refer to Death as being more than just a minion and instead a powerful spirit and as the Grim Reaper who is equal if not superior to Dracula.

Death in PoR

[edit]

In Castlevania PoR (DS), Death is portrayed as a samurai serving his lord Dracula.

Um... no... the instruction manual simply says he has "samurai-like qualites", which is probably meant to referance his loyalty to Dracula, (remaining loyal to him even with Brauner being the castle's ruler, and blocking a blow that was meant for Drac. BassxForte 20:45, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Name in Japanese versions

[edit]

I'm aware that "desu" is the phonetic sound of the word in Japanese, just as "soriddo suneeku" is the phonetic sound of "Solid Snake". In certain Castlevanias, his name is 死神 (shinigami), while in others his name is デス (desu), which is why the article should have both listed, although I'm not sure the way it's put right now is really clear that "desu" is just the pronunciation a different name. - 75.136.202.14 10:16, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ARGH! Replace SotN images!

[edit]

All over the place I have seen only SotN images. Perhaps that is considered the best of the series, but, for goodness sakes, man! Why not replace them with some newer designs, say, the ones from CoD? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.212.7.123 (talk) 22:09, 1 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I think an image from PoR would be the best, since it's the most recent game. BassxForte 05:51, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
