Stickers doubling as theft prevention devices
[edit]Hi @Fram, thanks for looking over our edits (@Milowent). You asked if stickers that warn of tipping can be used as theft prevention devices. According to PDF page 14 of the GGFV6 & 9 Safety & Setup Manual cited as supporting stickers:
"GENERAL There have been incidents, including fatalities, when vending machines have been vandalized by being pulled over in an attempt to obtain free product or money. To warn of the danger involved in tipping, shaking, or rocking the vending machine, a decal has been designed to be affixed to vending machines."
This statement attempts to make the connection between theft, tipping of the machine, and the unfortunate opportunity to experience Death by Vending Machine. My opinion of the logic is that if a would-be thief is informed of tipping risk, they would think twice about stealing via tipping the machine. I'm not aware of any research that proves the efficacy of the stickers, but I'm also not aware of research that proves the opposite. I'm not making a case that stickers are the most effective form of Death by Vending Machine Prevention, rather that stickers are a tool in the toolbox that is a plausible contribution to the prevention of Death by Vending Machine, often preceded by theft.
Thanks! ~Themanfrom4g (she/her) Themanfrom4g (talk) 16:01, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
