Notability
[edit]I declined the speedy. I think the many Mirror articles mentioned here are sufficient evidence to assert, even establish notability.--Chaser - T 01:13, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
- Google may assert it, maybe even establish it, but the article doesn't. WebHamster 01:30, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
- Well, you're right that it still technically meets the policy, but the people who are likely to read this are those who have read about this guy in a newspaper, seen him at a concert, or the like. That casual, but informed reader is exactly who may contribute to the article in the future. Unlike the 1,000+ edit-count wikiholic, a casual passer-by is much more likely to add information to an existing article than create a new article. So it's better to leave it alone and let it expand.--Chaser - T 01:53, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the help, Chaser, I intend myself to add to the article as time goes on. This guy is BIG in the field he operates in in Ireland, its just that his appeal group are the silver surfers, who generally are not tech-savvy to edit articles such as this. Eiri Amach 16:49, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
I've readded the notability tag, because the article as it stands doesn't establish this artist's notability. I trust from the discussion above that he is actually notable, but the tag is there as a reminder that this needs to be established in the article. Since it's new and I trust it'll get expanded in the near future, this shouldn't be too much of a problem and then the tag can be removed. You need to assume someone's reading it who's never heard of him: how would you describe this guy in a way that makes it clear how well-known he is, and for what? In the meantime, please don't remove the tag. It's there as a reminder to editors that they need to add such information, and as long you intend to add it in the near future, people will assume good faith and the article won't get deleted. Ill givce it a shot to add to it, but it needs an epert on the subject. Inviting extra info would be a better way than listing it for deletion. Eiri Amach 23:36, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
