The result was: promoted by Vaticidalprophet talk 07:30, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Moved to mainspace by Oltrepier (talk). Self-nominated at 14:31, 11 September 2023 (UTC). Post-promotion hook changes for this nom will be logged at Template talk:Did you know nominations/Johan Floderus (diplomat); consider watching this nomination, if it is successful, until the hook appears on the Main Page.[reply]

  • Article is new & long enough, & seems well-written & neutral. I'm a bit dubious about the first hook - what the NYT did was to identify him. The Swedish government had announced that an unnamed man was detained a year earlier. Maybe refactor. Alt hook is ok. Earwig finds nothing. Johnbod (talk) 00:44, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Johnbod: You're probably right, although it's not that simple to find a way out... What about this?
ALT0b: ... that in September 2023, a New York Times report publicly confirmed the detention of Johan Floderus in Iran after a year-and-a-half since his arrest?
P.S. I must address I'm not a native English speaker, so sorry in advance if I'm articulating myself strangely... Oltrepier (talk) 10:27, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's essentially there, but "that in September 2023, a New York Times report publicly confirmed the detention of Johan Floderus in Iran a year-and-a-half after his arrest?" is more idiomatic. As reviewer, I'm not supposed to propose ALT versions. Johnbod (talk) 03:37, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Johnbod: That's fine, I can tweak it even further, and then we should be fine:
ALT0c: ... that in September 2023, The New York Times publicly confirmed the detention of Johan Floderus in Iran a year-and-a-half after his arrest? Oltrepier (talk) 20:07, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, GTG, with ALT1 or, probably better, ALT0c Johnbod (talk) 20:27, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Page move?

[edit]

Should this article be titled something like Detention of Johan Floderus instead? That would better align with WP:ONEEVENT and the article's content, which is primarily about his detention and Iran's history with detaining foreign citizens. Ed [talk] [OMT] 15:23, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@The ed17 I'm so sorry, I don't know why I've seen your message just now...
As the article's original creator, I actually agree, since the "Background" section alone makes up for roughly half of the text, and I was able to retrieve just a few details about Floderus' actual biographic details. The question is, would I have to over-haul the lead section to reflect this change (maybe, by even taking off the infobox), or could I leave it as it is? Oltrepier (talk) 10:25, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think you can leave it as-is. I've seen other over event articles that do it that way, e.g. Murder of Sylvia Likens. Ed [talk] [OMT] 14:13, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@The ed17 Right, thank you so much for your help! : ) Oltrepier (talk) 18:14, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
