Original title and premiere[edit]

Die beiden Kalifen was first premiered under the title Alimelik in Stuttgart on 6 January 1813. In then premiered in Vienna in 1814 under the title Die beiden Kalifen. It was also produced in Prague in 1815, championed by Weber. There's quite a lot more information in Giacomo Meyerbeer: 'Alimelek, oder Die beiden Kalifen', edited an annotated by Robert Letellier. See also Giacomo Meyerbeer: A Reader with information about both the Stuttgart and Vienna premieres, the Prague performance in 1815 and the Dresden performance in 1820. At the moment, this article is kind of misleading. Voceditenore (talk) 15:47, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, VdT, I will amend.--Smerus (talk) 15:51, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, Meyerbeer states very clearly in his diary that the Stuttgart performance was given under the name of Wirt und Gast. --Smerus (talk) 16:01, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This has roles, people of the premiere, and plot. This has voice types. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:17, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
"das Scherz Ernst" is strange German, so is "die beide Kalifen", - typo or old-fashioned German? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:56, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Found "Aus Scherz Ernst" which is short for "Aus Scherz wird Ernst", something starting light grows to something serious, - English equivalent needed, - perhaps exists somewhere? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:06, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This image seems closer to composition time, - we don't need the side navbox. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:10, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
