Present age

[edit]

@Daniel Case: Nicely written article. I don't think including the present age after the date of birth in the infobox is a good idea whether or not Bergeron is alive. In conjunction with the date and age of disappearance it reads a bit oddly. Clearly if someone later becomes known to be alive that's different but then the age of disappearance would look odd. For other people who have disappeared this seems to be omitted. Maybe not always? If it is important (and I tend to think it is not) I think it would be better to have in the text "At the present time she would be 40 years of age", {{age|1983|12|21}}. @Thincat: This is how {{infobox person}} has us do it; I've done a lot of the other MP articles that way and no one's yet raised this issue. Perhaps we should have this discussion at the template talk page. Maybe the solution would be to add some parameter that could be activated in {{birth date and age}} that would display "(if alive)" in cases like this where it is chronologically plausible that the disappearant (my coinage) is still alive. I looked at a few (Canadian) missing people at random and none had present age. I'll look tomorrow and see if I think it's worth following up. Anyway it is not an important issue – not one of being correct or incorrect. Thincat (talk) 23:46, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Thincat: Ah, OK ... you looked at mostly Canadian missing people articles. I've written quite a few, but only one other one was a Canadian case, and since the missing woman's body was found a year later it's now Death of Atsumi Yoshikubo so of course present age is no longer relevant. All the other ones are American cases and have routinely included that information. Daniel Case (talk) 21:54, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

what makes this person notable?

[edit]

While it is an important missing person's case locally - why does this rate an article? 104.169.18.4 (talk) 00:03, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It has gotten national coverage in Canada (see sources; CTV News and CBC News have run articles). Daniel Case (talk) 02:56, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
