Deletion discussion
[edit]Perhaps the fact that the Singapore based magazine Asian Scientist had selected Pancholi as the top ranking Asian Scientist of the year 2020 in a list of 100 Asia’s most outstanding researchers [1][2] was not cited in the earlier version of this article. This together with the fact that he was a recipient of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest multidisciplinary science awards in India, should make him notable. I strongly recommend that the article be retained. Krishnachandranvn (talk) 03:01, 2 December 2021 (UTC)
- At the last AfD, the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize was already mentioned. As for the Asian Scientist ranking, I don't know how significant that is, so I can't really comment, but the two sources listed don't seem to give WP:SIGNIFICANT coverage of Pancholi. -Kj cheetham (talk) 09:58, 2 December 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the response. I am still not convinced that getting the highest scientific award instituted by the Govt of the largest democracy in the world does not make the recipient a notable person. Ok. Wikipedia can have its own notions of notability. The second reference cited is an endorsement of the Asian Scientist's ranking by the Govt of Vietnam and it is in a sense an international recognition of the notability of the person under discussion. I feel strongly that the article should be retained. Krishnachandranvn (talk)
