Eastwood's Garage, Black Friday bombing
[edit]- Removed from article:
Eastwood's Garage was the scene of one of the explosions that took place on Bloody Friday in 1972 as part of a series of Provisional Irish Republican Army (PIRA) bomb attacks on a single day.CAIN Note: the site mistakenly refers to the attack as taking place in Donegall Street, an unrelated area of Belfast City Centre The site is still occupied by a garage.
- "Talk" edit moved from article content:
This CAIN 'note' of misattribution is completely incorrect. Eastwood's garage was in Donegall Street. There is clear visual evidence to this effect as shown by the ITN report (UTV Northern Ireland Troubles Footage Clipreel: 4:3, clip 17 of 17, X10100807 56617) of the same day where one can see in the background behind Harry Eastwood Motors in Donegall Street the porch of St. Anne's Cathedral (of the same street) and the rear of River House in High Street, as well as see the bomb explode. Jcunderscorebarnes (talk | contribs)
- It has been well documented already that the above was incorrectly added to the Donegall Road article, rather than to one about Donegall Street. The CAIN article (as of 3 March 2014) states Donegall Street, so I've removed all reference to it, rather than having a conversation about it within the article content.
