Sequel to 1939 movie?[edit]

Should some mention be made of the fact that the book does not take place in the same fictional universe as L. Frank Baum's "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" and the ensuing decades of sequels, but instead in one more like that in the 1939 movie "The Wizard of Oz"?
