Flight Number[edit]

Can someone tell me what flight number it is? Or giving me pictures? Or give me the website of the timetable? It was a charter flight was it? User:Amir Hamzah 2008 11:18, 28 July 2008 (UTC).[reply]

I think it was a charter flight. So maybe there is no flight no. ќמшמφטтгמtorque 13:30, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

B-class review[edit]

There was a request a long time ago for a B-class assessment. Before I get too deep, I would like to hear some opinions, especially by the main author, on one issue.

Right now the article goes on and on about things that have nothing to do with the crash. For instance, we have bits and pieces about why one person's itinerary prior to the flight that is basically cruft - we really don't need to know he took a shower before the flight.

So to go for B, or better, I would have to cut all of this out. Perhaps the author would not like that, so now I ask...

Hi, Maury Markowitz, thank you for your interest in making this article as the B-class article. I agree with you that the "Background" section of the article is too long. You are welcome to do the needful and trim down the article to meet the B-class criteria. Thank you. Cerevisae (talk) 00:30, 9 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Cerevisae:} Hello again. Sorry for the long time before starting on this, but I have an FA going so that takes up my wiki-time. Ok, let's get started... I'm having trouble understanding the timing of the various events mentioned. There is something about the refinery opening, a walkathon, and various meetings. Did he fly from Labuan to KK, and then back, and then crash on a third flight? Or was this the first flight from Labuan to KK? I ask, because the walkathon is supposed to start at 6am, which is much too early to be the 3pm flight. Perhaps you could make a short list of the events you have mentioned and their time and date, and whether or not they actually attended? From that I should be able to make a nice summary. Maury Markowitz (talk) 18:24, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Maury Markowitz, yes, Tun Fuad made three flights that day. The plane crashed on his third flight. Cerevisae (talk) 01:28, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • 6 June 2016 (6 am into late morning) - at Kota Kinabalu - participated in walkathon until until 830 am - met his son at walkaton - fly back to Labuan with his son in the late morning
  • 6 June 2016 (late morning) - unable to attend oil refinery opening ceremony at Labuan - instead, went back to Labuan Golf Club to meet Tengku Razaleigh

Tengku agreed. However, Ishak Atan, the private secretary to Tengku Razaleigh, decided to stay back with Tun Fuad's aircraft
  • 6 June 2016 (3:00pm) - Tun Fuad and his cabinet ministers boarded the ill- fated flight back to Kota Kinabalu- (Tengku Razaleigh first testament in 1999): Tengku Razaleigh climb in the Tun Fuad's plane and asked Rahman Ya'kub to board a different flight with him together with Harris Salleh. - (Tengku Razaleigh second testament in 2010): Harris Salleh climb into the Tun Fuad's plane and asked Tengku Razaleigh to follow him to Banggi island. Razaleigh then asked Rahman Ya'kub to follow Harris.
  • 6 June 2016 (3:30 pm) - Tun Fuad's flight circled the airport to make clearance for inbound MAS-737 flight - ? conflicting instructions from ground tower
  • 6 June 2016 (3:41 pm) - The flight crashed near the Kota Kinabalu airport

This is the best overview of events that I can compile. Both the references that I used ("The Sabahan" and "The Golden Son of Kadazan") provided incomplete descriptions. I hope these will help you in making a summary. Cheers. Cerevisae (talk) 01:28, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Background section[edit]

Ninety percent of the background section has nothing to do with the 1976 Sabah Air GAF Nomad crash. I'd like to do some major pruning if nobody objects. Samf4u (talk) 14:02, 23 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Samf4u, no problem. Just proceed with your editing. Thanks. Cerevisae (talk) 07:16, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Explanation why it's called "double six" tragedy?[edit]

I suppose this is because of the date (6th of June), not because of the number of passengers or something else, but can't find it clearly stated.— Preceding unsigned comment added by GerritDM (talkcontribs) 15:41, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
