Need information

[edit]

I am an enrolled member of the tribe, in good standing. I am trying to get information verified and updated here (wiki) re the tribe (DCR). Not sure yet how to do it in wiki but I would like to see the name of the page corrected - there is NO Dry_Creek_Rancheria_of_Pomo_Indians_of_California. The tribe is called "Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians", but I have some learning todo about 'fixing' in wiki. If you are wiki-skilled please fix this. My idea is to create a new page and copy/move this data to the new page Dry_Creek_Rancheria_Band_of_Pomo_Indians - or to just "move" (rename?) this page. Because I don't have experience in it, I'm not doing it.

I need to find a publicly available copy of the Articles for linking/ref-ing. The copy at the tribe's website is behind a user/pass block.

We (DCR) still have some intra-tribal issues (2010) and I'm not going to use wiki as a sounding board for that - but one issue that needs clarification (seriously) is that we (DCR) seem to be term challenged in the sense that 1/2 or more of us keep calling our directors "The Council". (see the main article link for Council) It is listed that way at our own website, but the "Council" of the DCR is adults 18 years old and older eligible to vote (the governing body). The "5" that we list as "our Council" are actually our "Board of Directors". We suffer this confusion because most other native tribes in North America call their "congress" a "Council". This distinction is necessary (if only on the talk pages) of wiki because this is supposed to be the "sum of all knowledge" - and by publishing the "knowledge of this misuse of terms" here, I am proving that our tribe is well aware of occassional mis-use of terminology, and we're working on it. I look forward to the day that DCR (myself as a Member and as a Member of The Council) does not have to make "discussions" about ourselves. Deanlwiley (talk) 19:25, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Move

[edit]

I tried to move the page to Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians, but accidentally moved the talk page. I cut and pasted the info into the proper places, but perhaps an administrator can properly move the pages? The edit history for the original article was rather brief, though. -Uyvsdi (talk) 20:39, 8 May 2010 (UTC)Uyvsdi[reply]

Thanks. Your efforts here, and on all (seems like) zillion native articles in wiki, are much appreciated.Deanlwiley (talk) 02:23, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
