In 1920-1921 Indian football was in primary stage so not many memorable records are formed therefore 'East bengal would break many records' is a silly statement.

This is an article about the sports club in general- the football team should be split, as the content on them is overwhelming this article. Sections 1-8, 10-12, 14 are all specific to the football club, and so should be moved to a separate article. A general sports club history could be added to this article, and links to the new football page would be added there. Every other notable department of this sports club has a separate article, and the men's football team should too. Joseph2302 (talk) 15:35, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Support – I totally agree with this proposal. I actually even proposed this in one of my edit comments as a suggestion. Considering that the club has multiple departments it makes sense to have one just for the Club and one for the Football Club like Galatasaray. KadenIN (talk) 16:19, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose – It could remain to its current form just like Mohun Bagan.
WP:OSE. Separate football article is the standard for multi sports clubs, Indian sports clubs shouldn't be treated separate to multi sports clubs in other countries. Joseph2302 (talk) 18:17, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The format being used by Mohun Bagan SG is highly unconventional. Moreover, the content on that page is highly censored and biased. Not the best page to be basing this page on. All over the world, clubs with multiple departments have a separate page for each and often one just for the club. Hence, it is more fitting for the split to be made. KadenIN (talk) 19:42, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Joseph2302 and KadenIN: based on your arguments, Mohun Bagan AC should also have a dedicated article for its football club named Mohun Bagan SG.
Oppose: per arguments given below by ArnabSaha and Akshadev at the Mohun Bagan talk page. Both the article needs restructuring rather then splitting, keeping them as sports club. Drat8sub (talk) 05:39, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What it needs is for an article about a sports club, not an article dominated by the football club. You unilaterally trying to close the other discussion is not valid. Joseph2302 (talk) 08:15, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Comment can someone action this split? People keep changing this article by incorrectly removing the general sports club infobox and changing short description to say "football club" rather than "sports club". There is clear consensus, and the sooner we fix the underlying issues, the sooner this stupid misinterpretation/ football-centric editing should stop. Joseph2302 (talk) 11:25, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: Would you mind action this split by yourself (if you have enough time to do so). You seem to be an experienced editor to do such job and since the football-centric editing is not stopping, it is really necessary to perform the split as soon as possible! — 𝙰𝚔𝚜𝚑𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚟™💬03:52, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Weak Oppose: The article would get irrelevant. And clubs like these are football focused only, where other departments were introduced later and not all of them are on a fully-professional level.
Comment After seeing the recent commit history messages and comments I think the best way to go forward will be to follow the model of Real Madrid's article which is an article completely dedicated to the football club and basketball divisions, etc. have their own separate pages. As the new article for the club alone will receive very little traffic, it makes more sense to just not proceed with the split but rather move this page to "East Bengal FC", make it all about the football club and all the other departments can still have their own pages with backlinks in the "Active Departments" infobox. KadenIN (talk) 09:20, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We can't have separate articles for other departments, fails SIGCOV/GNG, have issues with NRV. Read Madrid's basketball team is very significant topic, unlike the departments of MB and EB. The ideal article to follow would be Bayern Munic only. Drat8sub (talk) 10:53, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
WP:LISTEN, If we go with the split then I'm afraid that this article would get irrelevant and will lose its significance. If we look at the (rich) history of this club, it is clear that the foundation of this club was laid in the name of football, where other departments were introduced later and not all of them are on a fully-professional level. Same goes for Mohun Bagan — 𝙰𝚔𝚜𝚑𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚟™💬14:23, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The irony of someone quoting WP:LISTEN after clearly not listening to me for weeks. I understand your point, but don't agree with it. I don't require (yet another) reply. Joseph2302 (talk) 20:52, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
