Hello anonymous IP editor at 78.18.244.36: I would not normally simply revert your reversion of my edit without first discussing, but as you don't have an account, I thought it would be the best way of alerting you to my post here. My understanding is that we are are meant to err on the side of privacy in the case of people who would not meet WP's notability criteria. While I'm not necessarily a big rule-invoker, WP:BIOFAMILY states that being related to a notable person should not itself be taken as conferring notability. You and I know that AP was married to MA and now EC, but most people do not. The WP:BLPNAME guideline does speak of editors' discretion; I tend to think we are more discreet if we presume that private people would prefer to retain their privacy.
PS- Thank you for your edits here. Did you see the posts on "your" talkpage? If you do intend to keep contributing, even if only occasionally, it does make communication and notification easier if you create a log-in. Erictalk01:01, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for that Eric and understand. I thought it might be interesting but I cannot find any newspaper-type sources that mention the marriage so perhaps it is too much. If I did find such a source, would that be more acceptable? PS, thanks re comments on the talk page, I have to edit through work, and a work computer, so would prefer not to have an account at this stage. 78.18.244.36 (talk) 09:27, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm no authority here, so I can't say. But I think we risk straying into society column territory when we name private people in a case where it is not relevant to the reader's complete understanding of the subject (to borrow the language used in the guidance).
