FIRST LGBTQ+ MOVIE FOR INDIA

[edit]

I think it’s extremely important to write that this is the first ever Bollywood movie whit a lgbt+ character! This was so big because people thought it was a movie about a girl-boy love story so even people who are close minded went to the cinema. A lot of people used this movie to come out to their traditional parents!! I am from India and I never got to see such topics in movies when growing up, I was so ignorant. This is the first time i see such a thing happening and I am so proud of this actress who said that she was not afraid to play a lesbian character, she did not care if she would have lost fans because it would have helped someone’s life.

Bollywood's first major LGBTQ film

[edit]

How I Felt When I Saw That Girl is the first mainstream Indian release with a star cast that focuses on a lesbian love story. The film's director Shelly Chopra Dhar spoke to the BBC about the significance of this film for India's LGBTQ community. 87.19.42.165 (talk) 21:20, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
