Anyone have a cite for her famous comment, circa 1931, that the Snowdens had no need of their old friends as they were "such good friends with the Royal Family" now? Perhaps apocryphal, put about to suggest that National Labour no longer associated with what would nowadays be known as "plebs", perhaps she actually said it and it was repeated as a sign of her social gaucheness, who knowsPaulturtle (talk) 12:12, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Robert Skidelsky's "Politicians and the Slump" p. 69 refers to the Beatrice Webb diaries for 19 May 1930 as the source of this remark. Sam Blacketer (talk) 13:26, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I don't have a copy of Skidelsky to hand, nut might be worth adding to the article.Paulturtle (talk) 22:36, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
