Date inconsistency[edit]

I was told that editors should not change the DMY date format per the guidelines listed in MOS:NUM, but with that, we're left with an inconsistency on the List of Fairy Tail episodes article, which uses the MDY format seen in the other season articles. What are we to do about it: change the other articles or this one? User:Immblueversion (talk) 23:03, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really care much here, seeing that all the other articles use the same format change this one? I can see the numbers impacting references more as all numbers must be the same to pass WP:FA. This will have to eventually be shifted to one format if one hopes to take it to WP:FT. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 00:18, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If there is a set of articles about the same topic (like a series of articles about various aspects of an anime/manga series), determine which article was first created and use the date format used in that one throughout the other related articles. That maintains consistency. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 00:21, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Just of note this article was created on 01:06, 15 December 2015‎ so it looks like the newest. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 00:25, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well, this is one of the newest Fairy Tail-related articles, and the main series article was created on 13:55, 9 August 2006‎. That, along with every other article from manga volumes to anime episodes, uses the MDY format. User:Immblueversion (talk) 01:07, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It should be MDY given the rest of the franchise articles is MDY and the series itself is not British or European in origin, and that its main English adaptation is still Kodansha USA and Funimation (U.S.) based. It shouldn't be DMY just because a European or someone based in DMY got their hands on it first, which would only be for new articles, not stuff perceived and organized as new "seasons" of a franchise. Also, when the Japanese gives a date, use the YMD format, which is not used on the English Wikipedia. For shortened dates, it is MD. So if we are going to get into MOS:TIES, MDY is closer to the general date format in Japan. —Farix (t | c) 04:02, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Since a decent consensus seems to have formed to switch the dates to MDY, I have gone ahead and made the change. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 14:19, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your understanding Palmer. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 17:20, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Anime coverage[edit]

The latest discussion has brought up another issue I wish to discuss: the use of Template:Infobox animanga/Video and listing the anime adaptation episodes here. I understand that including them would help illustrate the information that the manga has an anime adaptation, but it seems more fitting for a separate TV series altogether. Based on primary sources such as the official Japanese and English licensors' websites (Crunchyroll and Funimation), the Fairy Tail Zero adaptation is a part of the main anime series, hence its inclusion on the main List of Fairy Tail episodes article. Any third-party coverage distinguishing the Zero adaptation as a separate series just seems to be an error in coverage on their part. I suggest we relocate this information to a "List of Fairy Tail Zero episodes" article; Funimation (which provides the only verifiable season count for episodes) already categorizes the adaptation as a sort of "season" of its own, so it seems appropriate, provided there is enough coverage to warrant it. Broadcast dub dates[edit]

Today marks the release of Fairy Tail Zero's first broadcast dub episode on the Funimation website, which poses the question: should we list the dates by online release from now on? User:Immblueversion (talk) 02:49, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have no objections to it. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 04:28, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Latest episode still listed under "Fairy Tail Zero".[edit]

Funimation has uploaded its latest episode, and it would seem that despite the adaptation of Fairy Tail Zero officially being over, the episode is still listed under "Zero" rather than "Season 8" as many an editor hoped through their premature creation of the "season 8" article. This brings us to a fairly awkward situation, since Funimation provides the only verifiable episode count. For now, I'm going to place the new episodes here and we wait another week or so to see how the season plays out before we create a new article. It's possible things will change when there is a new opening sequence, but... User:SubZeroSilver (talk) 02:12, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the anime is ending and there's really no other place to put the new episodes after all. It's settled, then: the episodes stay. User:SubZeroSilver (talk) 17:39, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
