As a former student of Maestro Ferenc Marki, I can honestly say that he was without a doubt one of the finest teachers I ever had the privilege of working with and knowing. Maestro Marki knew how far he could 'push' his students to get the most out of them without hurting them physically or psychologically. Always the task-master, yet he never failed to say what a good job one did with a sparkle in his eyes!
Maestro Marki also seemed to have this magical power over equipment. As college students, we were taught how to troubleshoot our equipment. During one tournament, my electric foil was misbehaving and I tried everything to get the foil to work properly. In desperation, I called Maestro over to 'fix it'. He picked up the foil, examined it, shook it, and wouldn't you know... it tested fine, and off I went to fence. The master's touch was all that was necessary! 76.191.199.230 (talk) 00:15, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Kathy Aanestad, CCSF 1969-71 and SFSU 1971-73.
