Renaming[edit]

I believe 'seniore' is not a word in Latin, Italian or English. I'm not even sure it's common use to refer to cardinals as 'junior' or 'senior' based on their kinship. Overbridge (talk) 17:50, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The iuniore or seniore is Italian and likely comes from the way they are differentiated by S. Miranda's biographical records; this for F. Barberini seniore; and, this for F Baberini iuniore. I imagine that the Wiki article titles are simply a reflection of these records. Miranda's records list most Cardinals of the same name as either senior or junior (provided they are related). The same is true of Francesco's brother Antonio Barberini who is referred to as iuniore (by Miranda) to differentiate between him and his uncle, but Wiki editors differentiate by using a middle name for Antonio Marcello Barberini.

That said, I have no particular objection to the move; seems fairly logical to me. Stalwart111 (talk) 23:20, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am happy with the move. As there is no opposition, I'll move it. Francesco Barberini (cardinal) would have been more usual, but there are at least two cardinals of this name. Moonraker2 (talk) 06:37, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
