Goal

[edit]

The lead says this is about internet for everyone, but the body says it's about bring Facebook to everyone, similar to other zero-rating promotions. Who's right? According to the infobox this is an "organisation", did someone find its bylaws? --Nemo 07:41, 26 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've started to balance the lede out a bit. Bylaws would be great! ★NealMcB★ (talk) 14:47, 17 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There is no mention of internet.org before 2013. It existed as an independent coordinating site, in the same spirit as IANA and IAB, at least from the nineties.

Discussion on reddit/r/India

[edit]

On 26 December 2015 Chris Daniels, a vice president of Internet.org, did an AMA on reddit's India channel.

The candid discussion here ought to be the basis of future journalism about Internet.org and the fundamental information in this discussion could inform the development of this Wikipedia article. Blue Rasberry (talk) 15:27, 26 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality

[edit]

This is a mess. A good chunk of the lead is written negatively, and there's very little in terms of additional content in the body. The stuff from the lead needs to be moved out into sections and the lead itself needs to be cleaned up to show a more neutral point of view. --Nathan2055talk - contribs 02:22, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I moved all the detail supporting the initiative's evilness to the net neutrality section. All that's left is a brief balanced overview of the positive and negative aspects. Bryan Henderson (giraffedata) (talk) 18:59, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 12 October 2018

The result of the move request was: moved as unopposed after two weeks. Also seems like the WP:COMMONNAME. (page mover nac) Flooded with them hundreds 10:52, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Free BasicsInternet.org – This article was moved to Facebook Free Basics in February 2017 [1], which is per WP:COMMONNAME. It was then moved to several different names due to different policies and reasons. But after doing some research, I believe it should be moved back to Internet.org. Internet.org is the name of the whole partnership and project by Facebook, and the current page title is really just one of the solutions under the project. [2][3] Free Basics doesn't really qualify as the common name as it is purely the name of its mobile app service. [edit]

The section "Available websites" has a direct link to "Hahaha Funny Jokes" site on hahahafunnyjokes.blogspot.com . It looks very fishy, the front page of that site is filled with articles that have click-bait titles, stock photos, and very poor writing (see e.g. "If You Want To Kill Yourself - How Can I Suicide? "). I find it hard to believe that Facebook would like to associate it's free service with such random website. So it's possible that someone simply added the link to Wikipedia here in hopes of getting visits.

The site is not confirmed by sources 76 ( https://info.internet.org/en/story/platform/ ) listed as source. Or at 78 ( https://connectivity.fb.com/free-basics/ ) listed as source of this entire section. 31.60.36.24 (talk) 22:57, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody objected, so I removed the hahaha blog from the links. 31.60.27.139 (talk) 14:13, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I have no idea what the other edits on the same day, "Remove lolwut hotline, ..." or "Remove process wank, ..." do :) They don't really remove any link, just add/remove whitespace on the page. That's not me :) 31.60.27.139 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 20:03, 2 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have added that site in the "Available websites" section... It was surprising for me that you have removed the site just because you don't like it!? WHY? FreeBasic service allowed this site and it should be in Available websites section... what's wrong with it? Please add this site again or give me a logical reason.
