Untitled[edit]

As a random browser onto this article, I would like to suggest if someone with a better understanding of German than me could translate in parentheses all the german titles of Ruekert's work into english for ease of understanding to someone just perusing through it. For example "He issued a collection of poems, Östliche Rosen(Easterly Roses[?]), in 1822" I think it's "Easterly Roses" anyway. My German is very cursory. I think this would help greatly any casual readers like me. Thanks.

Translations[edit]

I translated nearly all of the German titles in this article. It makes it look a little cluttered, so if anyone has a better idea for presenting all this information, it would be most welcome.

Please note that I am not a native speaker of German, thus some of the translations may be less than correct.

Also, could someone add a little about Rueckert's perhaps most well-known work, Kindertotenlieder (Songs on the Death of Children)?

Rückert and H. K. Schmid[edit]

Without wanting to get into an argument, I query whether it can be said of Heinrich Kaspar Schmid that he is among "probably the greatest of the composers who set him". Schmid is a very obscure figure, at least in the English-speaking world, as is shown by the fact that he so far has no Wikipedia page. Reputation does not equal greatness, I know - but there are probably other 'great' composers who set Rückert who deserve a mention before Schmid. Schmid set Rückert in his Liederspiel for voice and lute (which I've never heard) - are there any other settings by him?Cenedi 09:56, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
