How does one appropriately add BAM's URL to the Infobox?[edit]

In an edit from 23 July 2021,‎ WaendchenWand commented:‎ "Infobox: Fixed website link. Removed link to www.ravarcade.pl because BAM isn't Future Pinball; consider adding it as part of the 'Successor' field, if appropriate."

Fair enough. Unfortunately, I haven't yet figured out how to add such a field properly, even with the help of Template:Infobox software. Is "successor" still a valid Infobox field, in fact? Note: I've been working on modernizing the whole entry since January, but as posted below, I'm fairly inept with WP editor-codes. Finally figured out how to re-add the BAM URL (a line-break tag was needed), and added some new clarifications about the two projects. WaendchenWand-- in future, if you feel strongly about the URL being more appropriate as a "successor," then please move the BAM URL to that field yourself rather than outright delete it. Thank you! 2605:A000:DFC0:A6:14B2:1130:D3E8:F77F (talk) 22:44, 28 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't want to make the call on whether BAM is a true successor to, or a continuation of FP, as it's not quite clear to me what the releationship between the two is. (Did the FP developer officially hand over the project to the BAM developer? Or is BAM an unofficial mod or software layer on top of FP?) My point was simply that if the FP project has no official affiliation with BAM, then it is confusing to link to the BAM website as if it's an official FP website. But you've solved this problem now by adding clarification to the links which differentiates the FP from the BAM link. Cheers! --WaendchenWand (talk) 18:20, 29 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oof, didn't see your reply at the time, sorry! So, my understanding is that Leathley indeed gave his blessing to Janicki to continue development, altho it was agreed to be accomplished via a new environment that FP runs within, rather than via FP directly. There's a bit of backstory there, but I believe that answers your Q's. Btw, I'm the thread starter (link below), if you need to contact me or have me research anything in particular. Why the link to a commercial product?[edit]

Future Pinball is a free, community-supported, PC-based editor and emulator.

The article has links to Visual Pinball, a similar freeware emulator, and to resources related to these projects.

So why the link to The Pinball Arcade, a closed commercial product only for tablets and game consoles?

If it is appropriate, shouldn't we include links to the dozens of other closed commercial pinball simulations? — Preceding unsigned comment added by SomeAvailableName (talkcontribs) 08:18, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Pinball Arcade will also be available for Windows in near future and later also include an editor. Furthermore similar to Future Pinball and Visual Pinball there will also be a nearly unlimited number of tables available. On the other hand development of Future Pinball has been stopped. I think The Pinball Arcade is therefore already a good alternative to Future Pinball especially for tablets and game consoles. But we should let people decide for themselves. So why are you against such free information? --Fluffystar (talk) 10:32, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just noticed that the article is badly outdated, and contains much erroneous info.[edit]

Specifically, FP is in fact an ongoing project via BAM (Better Arcade Mode), and does indeed allow ROM content to be emulated via media files.

I've only updated the intro section for now, but will try to work on the body of the article in the coming days. Sorry to say, I haven't worked with the WP editor for many years, and will probably make some errors here and there, in particular when it comes to formatting. While I bring myself up to speed, please do feel free to correct where applicable.
