George Ramsay (English Army officer)
[edit]Was George Ramsay an 'English Army officer'? Or Scots? Shipsview (talk) 12:48, 3 January 2019 (UTC)
- Definitely Scots, not English but I don't know how to undo the original article heading; the same applies to a number of others eg James Douglas. Personally, I'd just go for 'Army officer' because the question of allegiance can be very complex. Mackay was Scots-born but spent his career either in Dumbarton's (part of the French army - mostly) or the Dutch Scots Brigade (part of the Dutch army). He settled in the Netherlands, his children were Dutch (as is the current Mackay chief, I believe).
